House painting in Orléans

Orléans grew hard from the late 1970s through the 2000s, from Queenswood Heights and Fallingbrook out to Avalon and Cardinal Creek, so the typical house here is a two-storey or a split with drywall inside and a mix of brick front and siding on the sides and back. Interior work is straightforward. Exterior work is mostly trim, soffits, fascia and the siding elevations rather than whole-house repaints.

A lot of Orléans housing from the 1980s and early 1990s has oil-based trim under its current coat. That is the single most common surprise in a quote here, because painting latex straight over old oil without a bonding primer gives you a finish you can peel off with a fingernail in a year. Ask for the solvent test on a hidden section of trim before the price is set.

Orléans is also the part of Ottawa where a bilingual crew genuinely matters to a lot of households, and where colour approvals in the newer Avalon and Cardinal Creek phases may still sit with a builder or a community association. Both are worth settling before work is scheduled.
